The WWA Eldoret DU organized had a 1-day workshop that highlighted issues of family affairs (women caring for themselves and their children) and managing small businesses including having vegetable gardens for self empowerment by Sr. Susan (Eldoret Diocese – Gender & Development Coordinator), Mrs. Grace Thirikwa of Moi Referal Hospital stressed how cases of Cancer of the Cervix must be tackled to reduce death rates while Miss Rebecca Williams from Dallas Taxis, USA shared with the audience skills of looking for donors, writing project proposals and soliciting funds. Two thousand five hundred (2, 500) mostly women participated. The Eucharistic celebration officiated by Bishop Cornelius Korir of the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret. The Bishop thanked women for being good mothers and Christians and encouraged them to be role models in advocating for justice, peace love and unity in their families and communities.
